Blasts and Low-Flying Planes Witnessed in Venezuelan Capital Caracas City

Accounts surfaced of multiple explosions and the sound of low-altitude aircraft in Caracas in the pre-dawn hours of the weekend. The situation has prompted claims from the Venezuelan leadership and demands for diplomatic intervention.

Venezuela Condemns US of Aggression

Venezuela's socialist regime has accused the US of committing "imperialist aggression," claiming that ex- President Donald Trump supposedly directed military strikes against the South American state. In an official announcement, the authorities confirmed that attacks had hit Caracas and three other states: Miranda, La Guaira state, and Aragua.

"Our sole aim of these strikes is to seize control of our nation's key assets, especially its oil and resources," the government asserted.

The government appealed to the global community to condemn the operations, which it labeled a "blatant breach of global law" that placed numerous of lives at risk in danger.

Reports of Blasts and Defense Bases Targeted

Residents spoke of hearing roughly several detonations around 2 a.m. local time. People in several areas allegedly rushed into the streets.
