In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this unified step would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade Russia to engage in negotiations. They further noted that the initiative would be implemented in tight collaboration with the United States. UK sanctions have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russia's resources since Russia initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had only been sourced from profits and interest earned on them. Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their desire to drive progress toward utilizing the full value of the seized Moscow's national assets to end the war. He added that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on the Russian government. This declaration comes after EU representatives gathered in the Danish capital recently to consider employing frozen Russian funds for a €140bn credit to Ukraine. Recently, President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or otherwise use seized Russia's holdings, based on reports. The total of frozen Russia's holdings in the Europe is calculated to be approximately €211bn.
