The standard components viewers are accustomed to – psychobabble word salads, overzealous entertaining – remain, but set of a holiday show, the purpose becomes clear. The elements have slid into place; it's a perfect snow storm.

By this point, Meghan is like the quirky relative at the typical holiday get-together – providing random tips, and supplying the odd random outburst. ("I love spinach!" … "A tradition has to have a beginning." … "A tree is part of my memory and love of the holiday season.") She's a bit of a character, but her presence is familiar and strangely comforting. And she appears happy enough; she's not doing a bit of damage.

She understands her all subtle gestures, utterance and gaze will be dissected and scrutinized, but still appears carefree and remarkably at ease.

The reason is, you know what?, everything in Meghan's Holiday Celebration is charming. Admittedly, it's all cringily ultra-extra, foolishness and flamboyant – but isn't that exactly what Christmas is about? And the talk she's talking might be absurd, but the walk she's walking genuinely looks impeccably styled.

Whatever she turns her beautifully manicured, diamond-adorned hand to, she executes with style. Her cooking looks delicious, the wreath she creates is stunning, her presents are almost too pretty to tear into. Nothing is mediocre or visually unappealing – even the way she fastens her apron is stylish and elegant. She doesn't bung a dish in the microwave, it "has a moment", and she wraps gift paper like an paper-folding expert. She also seems to be genuinely relishing herself the entire time. How could any hate-watcher not be charmed, overcome by seasonal cheer and left with a powerful yearning for personalized Christmas crackers or a vegetable display where broccoli is arranged in the shape of a Christmas ring?

Meghan was once an actress for a living, of course, but despite that, after the level of scrutiny she has weathered since she became involved with Prince Harry, a theoretical combination of two legendary actresses would struggle to act this authentically. Her refusal to alter or even tone down her shtick, regardless of it being so persistently, internationally ridiculed, is oddly heartening. In our unpredictable world, here is one thing we can count on: Meghan will remain herself, whatever happens. We will forever know where we are with her.

If you're still not buying her brand, a reminder that will surely come as a relief: you aren't required to. We don't have the draft in this country, and should it be reinstated, it would be improbable to include viewing With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. If, however, you decide to tune in and are gripped with jealousy about her picture-perfect Christmas, all is not lost either. If you are a royal or a data administrator, few children truly appreciates the time and energy their mother expends in the holiday season. So you can take heart by envisioning her children's faces when they unfold a calligraphy note that says, 'I love you because you are brave,' from a homemade Advent calendar, instead of a chocolate.
