Manchester United's women's team has finalized a major addition by acquiring German international forward Lea Schuller who joins from the Bundesliga champions.

The 28-year-old, who has signed a contract that will keep her at the club until June 2029, is the team's second signing of the winter transfer period, following the arrival of full-back Hanna Lundkvist.

A Proven Winner

The player enjoyed five years at Bayern Munich, featuring in more than 100 games and helping the team secure multiple Bundesliga championships.

For her country, her record is equally impressive, having scored 54 strikes in 82 appearances for Germany.

"From our initial talks I held with head coach Marc Skinner and the club, the goals of everyone here were very clear," commented Schuller.

She was part of the squad that were beaten finalists to England at Euro 2022 and later won a third-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

"There is still so much that I aim to accomplish in my career, and I am convinced that Manchester United is the perfect place for me," she added.

"I believe that the way the team plays of football will be a great fit for my game. I hope my attributes and know-how can help us to achieve our aims both in the WSL and in the European competition."

The club's director of women's football, Manchester United's director of women's football, said: "Her scoring prowess is exceptional, her style of play will give our attack an dynamic new edge.

"Her champion's mindset and experience will really help our ambitious and youthful team as we continue to grow together and challenge across domestic and European competitions."

Strengthening for Europe

United are aiming to be busy in the remaining weeks of the window as boss Marc Skinner seeks to bolster his team for the knockout stages of the top European competition.

They have already agreed a contract extension with key midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who will now stay until the summer of 2029.
