Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following earning a place on the rostrum for the fourth time in her last five World Cup competitions. The veteran athlete, who last week set a record by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, came in third place in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her 142nd career World Cup podium finish. Strong Return in the French Alps Competing at the iconic venue for the first occasion in almost a decade, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place. "I didn't quite have enough direction on the first jump," Vonn remarked. "After that, I skied well. I'm pleased with my skiing today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious." This performance was her second podium at Val d'Isere during the event, having also taken third in the downhill race on Saturday. A Remarkable Comeback from Retirement Vonn stepped away from competition in February 2019 as a result of persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in December 2024 following a partial knee replacement. With less than two months remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are highly promising. She has an Olympic gold and two Olympic bronze medals from previous Games and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the next Olympics. "At the Olympics, I will be fully ready," the athlete confirmed. Aiming for Further Glory In addition to her Games aspirations, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has accumulated over a professional journey spanning 20 years. She currently holds a 69-point lead at the top of the overall downhill standings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings. This current World Cup campaign includes a total of nine races scheduled before the circuit finale in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
